I’d buy another Netgear product because of that experience.
They were effective at communicating and making things easy. Bonus: props to Netgear support for getting back to me quickly about registering an already registered product(bought it on OfferUp). I guess I don’t really need DOCSIS 3.ġ as long as this continues to work. Overall, I’m very happy with the upgrade. You can also do this from a web browser, but it has to be on the network first. Make sure to download the app and make every attempt to login to the router and change your network name and password. After calling my internet provider to activate the modem/router, I still couldn’t get on the network. Most importantly, the Nighthawk app was a bit finicky when I set it up. The Coax cable was a bit snug and took some maneuvering to get on. That means way better range as my PC is in my furthest bedroom from the router. I was getting 100mb download speed at best on my PC Wi-Fi. I got a deal on the Nighthawk and instantly saw speeds increase. 0 router combo and needed an upgrade badly.
Change the “channel” for the 5g band from 156 to 48 or test other channels until the 5g signal shows up.
One more tip for those who do not see the 5g wifi signal. Wifi signal strength is very good and even a little stronger than the R7000 which is amazing as it has no external antennas. So far (only 2 days) but working perfectly. I will see if I get similar issues with this router and if so I will plug it into the timer. That solved all my dropped connection issues. The timer turns off at 2am and back on at 201 am. I had a R7000 nighthawk that seemed fo get messed up especially when connecting multiple times to netflix and or amazon prime. One hint I would like to give the small pct of people who are getting dropped connections is to install a wall timer that reboots the router in the middle of the night. Now I can easily move this device which is fairly compact easily from one area of my home to another if I need to. Love the combo modem router as it eliminates a box and a power supply and the cabling from modem to router.Īlso since these devices are made by the same company compatibility config issues are eliminated. You can activate the device yourself using comcast app or web which is so nice not having to wait for support.
